HAPPY Heart Check - CHIO Aachen (Germany) july 2009 At the world's largest horse event, the CHIO in Aachen, HAPPY was present to offer visitors a free heart check. Close to 400 visitors took this opportunity and tested their blood pressure and cholesterol. After filling out a short questionnaire they received a personal advice. In this advice not only their heart check results were presented, but also an estimation of their heart attack risk was given and explained. Furthermore, a close look was taken at their lifestyle. Although many people were healthy, 171 participants received the advice to visit their general practitioner since their blood pressure, cholesterol and/or heart attack risk was increased. The responses to this free health check were very positive. For most people the check was a confimation of their good health. Others were thankful for this possibility and glad that possible abnormalities were found early.
